The Mountain Festival is an event that takes place on the last weekend in June in several villages, towns and mountain resorts in France. The aim of this event is to discover traditions and summer mountain activities such as hiking, mountain biking, Nordic walking, via ferrata or canyoning and show that the mountain is accessible to all.
On this occasion, many events are organised throughout France: guided walks, hikes, mountain refuge evenings, learning about wild plants, introduction to Nordic walking or climbing, the ascent to the Alpine pastures, meals and tastings of local specialities, film screenings and introductions to paragliding at discounted prices.
Created in 2012 by the Coordination Montagne organisation, the French Mountain Festival offers over 250 sports, cultural and food-themed activities in the Massif Central, Vosges Massif, Alps, Jura, Pyrenees and even Martinique. Visitors can consult the programme of events on the Internet or at participating tourist offices.
