Monte-Carlo Spring Arts Festival is a classical music festival that lasts for four or five weekends in early spring, spanning the months of March and April. The concerts take place in several concert halls in Monaco as well as unusual venues, like the oceanographic museum of the "parking des pêcheurs" car park. Founded at the request of Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace, the festival soon made a name for itself and is remarkable for its broad scope and varied line-up.
Guests and musicians from all over the world have come to perform there, including the greatest orchestras in Europe, like the London Symphony Orchestra, the Tonhalle Orchester Zürich, the Royal Ballet of Cambodia and the Kimbanguist Symphony Orchestra. Several composer portraits are presented at each new edition, such as Ravel, Brahms, Bach, Bartok, Mozart and Beethoven.
Apart from the concerts, the festival offers many activities on the theme of the works performed, like conferences given by musicologists and masterclasses open to the musicians performing at the festival.
