The Mirabelle Plum Festival takes place every year in August in Metz, with the aim of celebrating and promoting the iconic fruit of the Lorraine region. Every year it attracts around 80,000 visitors.
For fifteen days there are many mirabelle plum-based activities, like dinners with shows, concerts, dances, a funfair, fireworks, a parade and culinary discovery points. A big market with regional products and crafts sold by a hundred or so exhibitors over a two-day period gives the public a chance to meet local mirabelle plum growers as well as pastry chefs, chocolatiers and beekeepers.
The election of the Mirabelle Plum Queen is one of the highlights of the event, along with the Montgolfiades de Metz, a big hot air balloon gathering that takes place in the town centre by the lake.
