Events around Lens

On the second weekend of March, the police book fair Polar-Lens brings together authors and passionate readers of the genre.

At the end of June, on the occasion of the "Grandes Fêtes", the Festival Paraderuze will host a number of street arts shows and events.

Finally, in a convivial atmosphere typical of the region, the market makes it possible to discover and appreciate the northern soil: Tuesday and Friday morning Salengro Square and Saturday afternoon at the Grande Residence.

• The Battles of Artois left a lasting mark on our landscapes and memories ? 110 years on, the Mémorial 14-18 Notre-Dame-de-Lorette is offering a season dedicated to helping visitors discover this important part of history and these major sites of remembrance. - This photo exhibition brings together archive images from the collections of ECPAD, the Etablissement de Communication et de Production Audiovisuelle de la Défense, and contemporary photos by photographer Patrick Devresse. Conceived as a journey through time, the exhibition takes us back to 1915 on the hill of Lorette, close to the soldiers, at the heart of the fighting and destruction, and to the same sites, peaceful today and imbued with a singular beauty, through the eyes of Patrick Devresse.

• These are the paths of memory that we invite you to follow on a 24 km bike ride in the footsteps of François Faber : this cyclist, winner of the 1909 Tour de France, died at the front in May 1915 during the second Battle of Artois. - Before setting off, discover the life of this champion through the portrait that the Centre d ? histoire du Mémorial 14-18 is devoting to him on the occasion of the Tour de France ? S passage around Notre-Dame-de-Lorette on July 5. - The "rando-mémoire" stops off at a number of must-see sites : the Maison Blanche German military cemetery at Neuville-Saint-Vaast, the Notre-Dame de Lorette 14-18 Memorial, the ruins of the abbey church at Ablain-Saint-Nazaire, the British Zouave Valley cemetery at Souchez ? And the monument to François Faber at Mont Saint Eloi.

• Set off on a 100% fun, no-holds-barred walk along the paths of remembrance : a guide accompanies you, and lunch is provided and even brought to you ! - This 13 km walk around the hill of Lorette takes you to the necropolis and the Anneau de la mémoire, as well as to the old church of Ablain-Saint-Nazaire, preserved in ruins as a witness to the intensity of the fighting in the First World War. - For lunch, enjoy a poké bowl from La Fabrique à Poke in Angres, and along the way, take a welcome brewery break at Brasserie Saint-Germain in Aix-Noulette.
