Since 1978, "Faites Lire !" has taken place each year in mid-October. With 200 authors, 80 publishers and 30,000 visitors, it is the major event of the autumn cultural scene in Le Mans. A diverse meeting place for all styles of writing, it consists on the one hand of a themed fair that celebrates French-speaking literature, with debates, interviews with authors, ethnologists, specialists, shows, storytelling, music, exhibitions and workshops; and on the other, a more general fair, open to all forms of writing, with meetings between writers on the autumn literary scene, young people and children’s areas, crime fiction, comic strips, science fiction, etc. Lovers of literature, visitors who are just curious, collectors, lovers of debates, non-profit activists and readers of all ages make "Faites Lire !" a wonderful popular festival whose essential feature is diversity.
