Crémieu Medieval Festival traditionally takes place in the second weekend of September. Around 200 professionals and 300 volunteers bring the Middle Ages back to life in Crémieu. Activities include horse shows, jousts and combats, jugglers, colourful stilt-walkers, flag-twirlers, fire-eaters, musicians and magicians. Artists wander through the streets, providing entertainment with playlets, fables and farces of yesteryear.
Various living camps show how civilians and soldiers lived, involving non-choreographed combats on foot with various weapons: long sword, lance, shields. There is a street dedicated to old trades: bow-makers, a potter with an earth kiln, a chainmail-maker, calligraphy, coin-striking, old-fashioned carding and spinning on a spindle...
There are educational workshops for children and adults. A big banquet with a show delights the taste buds and eyes of spectators in the hall on Saturday night.
