- Bénerville sur Mer welcomes Jean-Claude Lehmann, eminent scientist, internationally recognized for a conference on the theme : "Technological progress and evolution of society. Can a look at the past enlighten us on what we are living today ? - Since the Stone Age, the human species has lived at the rhythm of successive technological breakthroughs. These have always been accompanied by profound changes in the functioning of society. In this presentation, we will observe the relationships between science, technology and society through examples taken in time and space. These examples lead to the current period, in the middle of the most important rupture ever experienced by humanity. What are the benefits, but also the concerns and risks ? The past can never predict the future, but it can sometimes enlighten the present. - Jean-Claude Lehmann is a graduate of the Ecole Normale Supérieure (ULM) and holds a doctorate in science. - Full professor of physics at the University Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris 6) and at the Ecole Supérieure d ? Optique (1968-1981). - Researcher at the Kastler-Brossel Laboratory of the École normale supérieure. - Silver medal of the CNRS, twice laureate of the Academy of Sciences. - Scientific director of the CNRS, director of the department of mathematics and basic physics. (1981-1988). - Director of research of the Saint-Gobain Group (1988-2005). - Honorary President of the Association of former students of the Ecole Normale Supérieure. - Founding member and Honorary President of the Academy of Technologies. - Officer of the Legion of Honor.
