The concept is one of sensory perception, enhanced by sounds, whispered songs and readings. The atmosphere, the light, invites us to meditate, as if before an altar to the memory of these female characters. Mathias is seeking to invoke the sacredness of the eternal woman, the femininity of the world…
Hudros, d’eau et de Béton - Photographies de Patrick Rimond
- From 8 march to 9 may 2024
- 4 Rue de l'Yonne, Galerie d'art et atelier L'Escalier
- L'Escalier, 4 rue de l'Yonne, 89000 Auxerre Open Friday, Saturday 2pm-7pm / Sunday 2pm-6pm / by appointment - contact@galerielescalier.com + 33 6 63 44 57 53 http://www.galerielescalier.com Instagram @galerielescalier - The Hudros series was born out of a sensory fascination created by the contrast between crystal-clear water - In a rough, inert concrete pipe. On the one hand there is life, with the - the freshness of the water, in perpetual movement, and on the other, there is the inanimate, with a static concrete - Altered by time. Opposite but interdependent, they work towards a common goal ; they are - the illustration of yin and yang duality. Physical access to this precious stream of drinking water that flows - Flowing for hundreds of kilometres is unhindered and gives urban dwellers a sense of freedom. - Of freedom. - I approach the landscape in a direct and subjective way. The photographs are captures - Without staging or using pictorial techniques. It is the relationship or - distance between myself and each scene. I project myself onto the part of the landscape I have chosen - I project myself onto the part of the landscape I have chosen and I frame in search of a feeling of calm. I find it in the balance - Of the composition. My view of the place is initially abstract, as in Toshio - Shibata's approach to concrete structures in Japan. I see a set of shapes, colours, materials - Materials, shadows and light that I combine to create an impression of harmony. It is - with a desire to reveal the ordinary, I set out to meet the world, fully aware of and involved in what I see. - And in total involvement with who I am. - The clarity and sense of slowness that emanate from the images invite contemplation. Each - Is first and foremost a visual territory in itself, in which I express my sensitive relationship - To the world. Of course, this personal approach does not detract from the documentary nature of Hudros. - The subjective discovery of a century-old heritage. - Website : https://www.patrickrimond.com/hudros.html

- Accused of theft, Colin Smith finds himself placed in a rehabilitation centre. The headmaster wants to modernise rehabilitation methods and encourages the young man's athletic prowess. He puts him through draconian training, with the aim of winning an upcoming competition and reaping the benefits for the centre. But these solitary races are just so many excuses for the young man to escape into his own thoughts, and his libertarian spirit remains intact. A classic of British cinema, The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner highlights the strength of human will in the face of adversity. With a touching story and an exceptional performance by Tom Courtenay, Tony Richardson's film has left its mark on several generations of cinema-goers since its release in 1962. See it or see it again on the big screen !

- A journey through time in search of the lost voice… - Baroque opera is full of female roles sung by men and male roles sung by women. An androgynous and fascinating voice, the countertenor reminds us of the castrati, huge stars in their day ! In this show, one voice can sometimes hide another… - Intention of the director, Mathieu ALEXANDRE - Since its birth in Antiquity, the fundamental question of every play has been What if ? What if Antigone buried her brother, or Phaedra declared her love for Hyppolite, or Romeo and Juliet found it impossible to live out their love ? - The fundamental question of our show is : what would future archaeologists find if they looked into our musical history ? - Probably already an absence, that of women in a whole part of this history. Forbidden to sing in church, mostly excluded from artistic life, this part of our musical history is not the most glorious, at least in terms of our current questioning of equality between the sexes. However, this absence also favoured the birth of the countertenor voice, to compensate for the lack of high-pitched voices in choirs. This voice, which found its apogee in the Renaissance period but seems to have found a place in our contemporary repertoire since the mid-twentieth century, remains both fascinating and unknown to the public, too often associated with the famous Italian castrati. - Through various references, from Woody Allen to Monty Python, via Alexandre Astier and Stanley Kubrick, you will witness the journeys of two failed Indiana Joneses of the future, in search of the voice of women through the ages. You'll discover some very well-known works, and others less so. I hope you enjoy discovering this comic form of music, and above all this repertoire, which is ultimately the other side of the coin of the place of women in our Western musical history. - Cécil GALLOIS, singer - Justin GLAIE, musician
