Located in the heart of Wissembourg, in the Bas-Rhin, the Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul abbey church is a religious building classified as an historic monument. Founded in the middle of the 7th century by Austrasian nobles on an island in Lauter, it has long been considered one of the richest abbeys of the Holy Roman Empire.
Several times rebuilt following fires or other damage, the current building is mainly Gothic in style. However, it unveils a western bell tower from the 11th century, the only vestige of the Ottonian church. The Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul church houses a very beautiful 18th century organ, as well as superb stained glass windows.
