Wavrin

All in brick, the Saint-Martin church is one of the jewels of Wavrin, revealing an architecture typical of this part of northern France. Not far away, it is also possible to admire the old mill now transformed into a cultural center.

A peri-urban green space of over 400 hectares, the Deûle park is a popular place for locals and tourists alike. An important element of the regional green network, it was built around thirty years ago, now offering a wide variety of landscapes, starting with the banks of the Deûle or the ponds of La Gîte.

Located to the north of the city, the German military cemetery of Wavrin testifies to the importance of the fighting in the region during the First World War. Under German occupation from 1914 to 1918, the city today hosts a burial place for nearly 1,000 German soldiers who fell during this period.

• The weekly market is held every Saturday afternoon on Place de la République.
• In February, the town offers Festi Gonflés with its shows for young audiences.
• The Guitar festival in Wavrin offers concerts in April.
• In mid-July, the town celebrates the National Day with concerts and fireworks.
• In November, place at the trade fair for traders and craftsmen of Wavrin.
• A Christmas market with entertainment is held there in December.
