Things to see and do

Former medieval castle, partially rebuilt in the 17th century, Vogüé castle is still owned by a large family of the region. During visits, you can discover inside the historical rooms, a chapel of Romanesque style, dungeons, or even the basements. Hanging gardens are also accessible, and temporary exhibitions are regularly organized in this private building listed in the Historic Monuments for its elevation and its roof. In the chapel you will find elements coming straight from the chapel of Rochecolombe, as a bas-relief of the apostles of the sixteenth century or a coat of arms of the thirteenth century struck with the arms of the family of Vogüé.

Inside the medieval village, you will appreciate the cobbled alleys and the old houses that bring a certain charm to the whole. One can discover one of the narrowest streets in France, rue des Puces, or the first residence of the Vogüé family, the Tourasse. Guided tours of the town are regularly offered to soak up the local history.

Having succeeded a priory of the eleventh century, the church of Santa Maria was completely rebuilt following the wars of Religion, at the end of the seventeenth century. The vault of the lords of Vogüé is still there. Not far away, the Saint-Cerice chapel, also called the Gleysette, dates from the year 1000. Renovated and inaugurated in 2010, it now hosts summer exhibitions.

Marked hikes are accessible in and around the town of Vogüé.
