Common Vaucluse, on the road of the Côtes du Rhône, Violès takes place about fifteen kilometers from Orange, Carpentras and Vaison-la-Romaine. It is also located about thirty kilometers from Avignon and the famous Mont Ventoux.
Former small wine village always appreciated for its production, Violès was in the Middle Ages a dependency of the abbey Notre-Dame d'Aiguebelle.
