New town of the Ardennes, in the Grand Est region, Bazeilles takes place about thirty kilometers from Charleville-Mézières, not far from Givonne, Thelonne and Haraucourt. It was born on January 1, 2017 from the merger of Rubécourt-et-Lamécourt, Villers-Cernay and the former municipality of Bazeilles.
If the territory has had a relatively peaceful history over the centuries, gradually forging the face that we know today, Bazeilles however experienced its heyday on September 1, 1870. On this date, the town was the scene of a heroic battle between the porpoises of the Blue Division and the Bavarians.
Today, Bazeilles has regained its calm and charm, attracting passing visitors with its rich architectural heritage as well as its proximity to some of the most beautiful cities in the region.
