Things to see and do

Tourist village par excellence, Vierville-sur-Mer offers different sights to see on the Second World War in particular.

Just like in Arromanches, an artificial Mulberry bridge was built Vierville-sur-Mer by US troops in June 1944. It was partially destroyed by a storm shortly later, and you can still admire a unique dock connected to shore. It was along about 130 meters and consisted of old ways of the Arromanches floating port.

The DDay Omaha museum recalls the history of the village and its surroundings at the time of the Second World War, particularly the landing. In a building formerly built by the American genius and is located on the heights of Omaha Beach, it is possible to admire the collection of Michel Brissard. LCVP barges, armored turret, Engigma encoder, or tanks remember what happened so important in the region, as a slideshow and other display cases full of German or American objects.

On the beach of Vierville-sur-Mer, activities abound. Apart from swimming and leisure, it is possible to learn paragliding or sand yachting, while the rest of the village is ideal for practicing hiking, tennis, mountain biking and the horse riding.
