Municipality of Gironde, in the region of New Aquitaine, Vertheuil takes place in the Médoc, on the production area of the Haut-Médoc appellation. Limitrophe of Saint-Estèphe or Cissac-Médoc, it is located not far from Pauillac, about sixty kilometers from Bordeaux.
Labeled Vineyards and Discovery, the town of Vertheuil is known for several centuries for its wine business. Rich city in the Middle Ages and in the following centuries, it preserved from this time an important architectural heritage in perfect state of conservation.

Listed as a historic monument, the Abbey of Saint-Pierre was built on the remains of a Gallo-Roman building around the twelfth century. Occupied by the Benedictines, then by the Order of the Regular Canons of St. Augustine, it was partly rebuilt in the eighteenth century, before being partially demolished in the middle of the twentieth century. From the ancient building there are arcades, vaulted cellars, basements of walls, a bread oven, and the wall of the old vat room. The church is a fine example of Saintongeaise-inspired Romanesque art.
The castle of Vertheuil, listed as a Historical Monument, is today a private property.
Built in the nineteenth century, Beyzac Castle is listed as an historic monument. Wine estate, it houses vestiges of Gallo-Roman industrial buildings.
Housed in an 18th-century house, the Center Médoc ecomuseum offers exhibits of tools, ancient documents, and various objects depicting the living and working environment of Entre-Deux-Guerres artisans, traders, and peasants..
The wood of the Plantier is appreciated for its frame and its various footpaths.
The market is held every Sunday morning. A Christmas market is also proposed in December.

In June, Léo celebrates Leo's party, a cultural event around Léo Drouyn's work, with exhibitions, conferences and various activities.
The festival Voûtes et Voix is organized in July with various concerts in the abbey.
Reggae Sun Ska is a music festival taking place at the beginning of August.
