The most spectacular vestige of the old fortified castle built at the end of the 12th century by King Philippe-Auguste, the Archives tower once housed the archives of the notaries of Vernon.
Twenty-two meters high and equipped with 102 steps, the Archives tower takes place not far from the Flour tower which occupies one of the corners of the Arts garden. Classified as a Historic Monument, the Archives tower belongs to the same architectural line as the keep of Bouvreuil castle in Rouen, with rectilinear curtain walls, in particular.
