The village of Vercel is located on the second Jura plateau in the heart of the Doubs department, at 650 m altitude.

Ancient fortified village, the castle now disappeared was replaced by the Fairgrounds. The village, gathered around the large shady square, along with the mayor, former granary, fountains and the many distinguished townhouse, a harmonious witness to a very ancient and rich history. The church with its steeple to the imperial glazed tile and interior woodwork classified, worth a look. Local traditions live on in a very active trade, a restaurant and a local business end as the manufacture of cheese and smoked charcuterie Comtois.

Things to see and do

See, a few kilometers from the village, the main chapel of the sick or wooden chapel.

In front of the chapel still stands the venerable linden dated the time of King Henry IV.
