Located in Val-des-Prés, in the Hautes-Alpes, the Saint-Claude church was erected in the middle of the 15th century by Prince Jean, archbishop and prince of Embrun. Originally a chapel, it was subsequently elevated to the rank of parish church in the town.
Listed as a Historic Monument, this Piedmontese Baroque-style building is particularly appreciated for its steeple typical of Briançonnaise churches of the time. Partly rebuilt over the centuries, the church reveals more recent parts from the 18th and 19th centuries.
After having undergone a major restoration campaign, the Saint-Claude church of Val-des-Prés is accessible to visitors on weekends in summer and by appointment the rest of the year.
