Located 8 km from Baccarat and Badonviller, we arrive at Vacqueville through a shady and eventful valley.
In 1120, Vacqueville was the capital of a seigniory of the bishops of Metz, which included Bertrichamps, Thiaville sur Meurthe, La Chapelle, Fagnoux, Neufmaisons, as well as the hamlet of Veney. Towards the end of the 9th century, the bishops of Metz gave the land of Vacqueville to the Abbey of Senones, reserving the rights of suzerainty. Donation confirmed by Bishop Adalberon in 939.
In 1790, Vacqueville was part of the canton of Badonviller, district of Blamont. In 1843 the town was attached to the canton of Baccarat.
Vacqueville had a church since 986, it was rebuilt in 1750.
The war memorial is in the middle of the cemetery. The town was affected after the second war to 50%.
The population is 258 inhabitants. There are only 5 farmers left; in 1900, there were 22.
There are two associations: the MJC which organizes outdoor meals (braised hams) and various activities, and the ACCA which is one of the finest hunts in the area.
The town has a playground for children up to 8 years old and a multi-sports ground for older children.
The kindergarten was rehabilitated in 2009. In 2017, it was closed down and the pupils go to Bertrichamps primary school.
