In 1115, the construction of an abbey of the order of Fontevrault began, on the foundation of Robert d'Arbrissel. The abbey included a vast enclosure of partly preserved walls. The church was vaulted with cupolas. It had to suffer from the Hundred Years War and was then fortified by the construction of a large square tower with cross-shaped loopholes. To this tower remains attached a pillar of the old church. Carved capitals. The church was demolished after the Revolution.
