Village Dordogne, in the region of New Aquitaine, Trémolat takes place about forty kilometers from Périgueux, between plain and hills. It is located in the heart of Black Périgord, on the right bank of the Dordogne.

Very old, the town would be according to local historians the homeland of Saint Cybard, hermit of the sixth century who lived in a cave above the Charente. The latter gave birth to the monastery of Saint-Cybard-d'Angoulême, a dependency was built in the ninth century in Trémolat.

Full of charm, the village of Trémolat unveils to its visitors an architectural heritage of great interest, as well as unique and preserved landscapes to discover the time of a hike or a stay in the region.

Things to see and do

10 kilometers long and 200 meters wide, Trémolat is one of the peculiarities of this charming town. The road that follows the cliff offers a breathtaking view of the valley and the loop formed by the Dordogne.

While strolling in the village, you will be able to appreciate the beauty of the church Saint-Hilaire of XIIe century. Listed as a Historical Monument, this Romanesque building presents a vault of Gothic style choir rebuilt in the 15th century. It was decommissioned in the early nineteenth century, when St. Nicholas Church became the parish church of Trémolat. The latter, also built in the twelfth century, is classified as an historic monument. It includes a bell tower and an 18th-century altar classified as an object.

Trémolat has a nautical basin attracting many visitors each year. It is particularly possible to practice on the town canoeing, diving or water skiing.
