Village of nearly 500 inhabitants, Trémel is located in the Côtes-d'Armor, in Brittany. It takes place halfway between Morlaix and Lannion, at the limit of the department of Finistère.

The town was founded in the course of the High Middle Ages, and takes its name from its activity of producing honey. Born from the dismemberment of the original parish of Plestin, it was built as an independent city in the first half of the 19th century. Strongly affected by the wars of religion of the sixteenth century, it is today appreciated for its architectural heritage as much as for its authentic natural setting.

Its proximity to some of the most beautiful sights of Brittany makes it an ideal place to spend a few days of vacation to discover this department full of wealth.

Things to see and do

Listed as a Historical Monument, Kermerzit Castle was built between the 15th and 16th centuries.

Listed, the church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Merci also dates from the 15th century. It has retained the characteristics of the Beaumanoir architectural style with a steeple-wall and a chevron with high gables and multiple knots. Unfortunately, it was partially destroyed by a fire in 2016.

Do not miss the St. Maurice Chapel and the convent dating back to the second half of the 19th century. The town also has a way of cross of Xavier de Langlais, as well as a well of Marie Le Chevoir.

Several farms of the seventeenth century take place on the territory of the town, and there are also several marked hiking trails to discover the local flora and fauna, as well as the historical heritage.
