The Saint-Raymond museum, museum of the ancient city is a place impossible to circumvent. Located in the historic center, it preserves and displays works of the ancient Mediterranean civilizations that can be discovered during a guided tour or through an audio guide.
An exceptional collection of Roman sculptures unearthed at the site of Chiragan in Martres-Tolosane is presented.
You will also appreciate the objects showing the splendor of Tolosa and the Roman province of Narbonne.
Equally impressive is the basement in both exhibition and archaeological site, it presents a set of carved sarcophagi for the first Christians and the excavated remains from archaeological sites: a lime kiln remarkably preserved and part of the necropolis of the Late Antiquity. Thanks to them, you will better understand the origins of the Saint-Sernin basilica next door.
