In the heart of the Cher valley, the archaeological museum of Thésée presents collections of objects discovered during excavations of ancient Tasciaca, an ancient Roman town of importance between Tours and Bourges and a center of pottery production.
Here, visitors can discover coins, vases, statues, jewelery or even reconstructions of places of life from Roman times. Installed on the 1st floor of an old 19th century bourgeois residence, the archaeological museum of Thésée now benefits from the designation Museum of France.
This museum is currently the subject of a reflection carried out by the department of Loir-et-Cher, the community of municipalities, the country, the municipality and the State to offer renewed, more attractive and immersive content. Visits combined with the archaeological site of Mazelles are provided in summer, and schoolchildren are welcomed throughout the year. Activities are also offered during high points such as Archeology Days and European Heritage Days.
