Medieval village of the Rhone, south of Beaujolais, Ternand takes place about forty kilometers from Lyon. It is located near Theizé, Bagnols and Sarcey, and extends on both sides of the valley of Azergues.
Occupied since the Gallo-Roman period, the territory of Ternand became property of the archbishops of Lyon from the twelfth century. From then on, it was transformed into a stronghold and the town was struck in the middle of the 16th century by the Huguenot troops of the Baron des Adrets during the wars of religion, the latter destroying the castle.
Known for its beloved Beaujolais, the village also seduces with its rich architectural heritage that bears witness to a long and exciting history. It also takes place in a charming and preserved place where it is good to walk on sunny days.
