A fortified building listed as a Historic Monument since the 1940s, the Château de Diziers takes place at Suèvres, a little set back from the Loire. Passing visitors can admire a right wing with towers from the 15th and 16th centuries, as well as a central dwelling from the 17th century. Completely restored in the 19th century, including the addition of a chapel, it served as the final resting place of Madame Guyon, a French mystic adept in quietism.
Surrounded by a moat still filled with water, the Château de Diziers is also preceded by a terrace with a basement served by a gallery. On the right wing, it is possible to see mullioned windows as well as an octagonal turret topped with a lantern. Added to all this are 19th century stables, an orangery in ruins and a standing dovecote with drip edge.
