The current Bas-Rhin prefecture takes place in the heart of Strasbourg, in the Klinglin hotel, former home of the royal lender, François-Joseph de Klinglin. Built in the first half of the 18th century, in an elegant classical style, the building is now listed as a Historic Monument due to its impressive architecture.
Accessible to the public during Heritage Days, the Bas-Rhin prefecture hotel then unveils all its sumptuous charms. Reconstructed identically at the end of the 19th century following its destruction by bombardment, it then benefited from a rich decoration to welcome with great pomp the great dignitaries of the Reichsland.
The site also regularly hosts artistic and cultural exhibitions on various themes.
