Located in Strasbourg, in the Lower Rhine, Pourtalès Castle takes place in the heart of the park of the same name, north-east of the former market town of the city, Robertsau.
Listed as a Historical Monument, it was built in the eighteenth century for Joseph Guérault, then contractor of the works of the king in charge of the construction of the fortifications of Strasbourg. Occupied during the two world wars, Pourtalès Castle was almost completely destroyed when it was bought by Dr. Walter Leibrecht, founder of Schiller International University, in 1972. Since then, it has been home to students from all over the world. MEPs at parliamentary sessions. The site is also equipped with meeting and reception rooms, as well as a wellness center.
The building takes place in a park of 24 hectares in which it is possible to admire a garden bridge, a house, a farm, a fence of garden, a greenhouse, a conciergerie, a dovecote, a fountain, an alley, a portal or two old ponds.
