Lake Trout, also known as Forlet Lake, is located on the town of Soultzeren, near Munster, in the Haut-Rhin, 32 km west of Colmar.
Covering an area of nearly 3 hectares, it is the highest lake in the Vosges massif at 1061 m altitude.
It was formed in an old glacial cirque, surrounded by steep walls, dominated by the peaks of Tanet and Gazon de Faitte, at 1300 m.
Its banks composed of peat bogs, scree but also fir forests evoke an alpine landscape.
The lake adjacent to a protected area for its ecological wealth is a paradise for fishermen, who appreciate its Fario and Rainbow trout, as well as hikers. A picnic area awaits them at the end of a very pleasant course in the heart of the massif.
