Located in the Dordogne, Siorac-en-Périgord is a small southwestern town of France. Located in the heart of the Dordogne, on the banks of the Dordogne, the town is not far from Sarlat-la-Caneda, tourist mecca in the region.

The town charm today by its typical architecture of the region, its stone houses and beautiful cultural and historical heritage. It is also ideally situated for exploring the charms of Perigord, that is natural, architectural, or gourmet with foie gras, the wine or the breasts.

Things to see and do

Small town in Dordogne, Siorac-en-Périgord still has some beautiful architectural remains and an interesting cultural heritage.

Built in the eighteenth century, the castle of Siorac is a house composed of two levels and two pavilions at three levels. It was built on the ruins of an ancient noble hideout destroyed during the episode of religious wars.

The church of Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens dated seventeenth century and was built on the first building of 1143 destroyed during the Hundred Years War. One can still admire four chapels built by the co-lords of Siorac, and hosts three bells installed between the eighteenth and nineteenth century.

Erected during the Second Empire, the bridge of Siorac was inaugurated in 1857. Placed under the protection of a benevolent Virgin, is a fine example of the architecture of the nineteenth century Perigord.

Events and festivities

Siorac-en-Périgord annually hosts various cultural events to enliven its streets.

Throughout the year, a weekly market is offered on Wednesday morning from 8am to 12pm.

During April, Easter is offered to residents, including the installation of a funfair. In early April, the city also offers its famous cycling race.

In July and August, two antique fairs are proposed, one on the third weekend in July and the second on the second Friday of August.

The traditional festival of the bridge, with its entertainment and cabaret takes place annually on the first weekend of August.

A wine fair and regional products, allowing to enjoy the best of regional gastronomy, is held annually on the third Sunday of August.

In early August, a garage sale and fireworks are also available to visitors.
