Small village in the Territoire de Belfort, in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, Sermamagny takes place at the gates of Belfort. It is located not far from Valdoie, Cravanche and Offemont.
Cited in the 11th century, the municipality of Sermamagny became Austrian land in the middle of the 14th century, before joining the kingdom of France in the middle of the 17th century. Installed on a busy passage, it then enjoyed a unique prosperity while suffering from many periods of unrest and war, especially in 1633 which saw its destruction by the Swedes during the Thirty Years War.
