Things to see and do

City close to its traditions and its history, Schirmeck offers to discover a beautiful architectural and cultural heritage.

Located above the Bruche Valley, the Memorial of Alsace-Moselle opened in 2005, allows to trace the fate of the Land Elsass-Lothringen from 1870 to the present. The focus is on World War II, and a space is entirely devoted to the Franco-German reconciliation and the European construction. Movies and many items are on the agenda of this important place of memory.

Schirmeck Castle, built in the thirteenth century, overlooks the city and now houses a museum. Restored in the late 1960s, he has an interesting exhibition of old documents, plans and other photographs on the history of the town and castle. Everyday objects, costumes or memories of the two world wars are also visible.

Recently restored, the game park you can admire the locals, deer, like deer and bichettes. A picnic area has been installed next to enjoy the scenery.

Walking through the streets of Schirmeck, it is possible to appreciate the St. George church, the St. Pierre Fourier church, and the former synagogue, inscribed on the inventory of Historical Monuments.
