New municipality of Corrèze, Sarroux - Saint Julien was born on January 1, 2017 from the merger of Sarroux and Saint-Julien-près-Port. It is located on the border of Cantal and Puy-de-Dôme, not far from Beaulieu, Bort-les-Orgues and Lanobre.

Of ancient origin, the two hamlets came together to form this pleasant town of around 850 inhabitants that we know today. Full of charm, Sarroux - Saint Julien thus reveals an architectural and natural heritage that will seduce passing visitors.

Things to see and do

While strolling around Sarroux - Saint Julien, you can discover exceptional sites such as the 13th century Saint-Barthélémy church. In Romanesque style, it was completely restored in the early 2000s and today reveals very beautiful old frescoes above the choir. You can also admire the Saint-Joseph-de-Vaux church or the Saint-Julien church before going to discover the Pierrefitte castle. Listed as a Historic Monument, this 13th century building transformed in the 15th century takes place not far from the castle of Vaux, also listed, from the 17th century.

The natural heritage of the town is not lacking in interest. During your wanderings, you can explore the lake of Bort-les-Orgues, born from the creation of the dam, or the promontory of Saint-Nazaire located above the confluence of the Dordogne and the Diège.

Unique, the Puy de Bort reveals basalt organs at an altitude of 860 meters which gave its name to the neighboring town of Bort-les-Orgues. The site offers a breathtaking view of the Limousin and the Auvergne and is appreciated by lovers of free flight.

The registered Mont et Vallée du Lys site also offers a unique view of the Château de Val this time around.

In August, the town offers its Saint-Barthélémy festival with garage sales, festive meals and other entertainment for young and old.

In September, Sarroux - Saint-Julien Book Day with a program of dedications, exhibitions and various activities around literature.
