Located in Île-de-France, in the Val-d'Oise department, Sannois takes place about fifteen kilometers from Paris, on the border of Argenteuil, Franconville or Cormeilles-en-Parisis.
The ancient Centidonium of the Middle Ages experienced a true rise between the sixteenth and seventeenth century, notably because of its ideal geographical location. Mainly agricultural and viticultural, this old village gradually turned to industry since the nineteenth century, becoming known notably for its plaster quarries.
From these glorious years, there are still some monuments and other tourist sites to discover during a stay in the region. Take a trip to Sannois, it is also an opportunity to taste some specialties like the cobblestone of Sannois, a walnut cake and almond paste.
Two museums take place in Sannois, the Utrillo-Valadon Museum, which features works by Maurice Utrillo and his mother Suzanne Valadon as well as contemporary collections, and the Boxing Museum. The latter presents over three rooms more than 8,000 objects devoted to this sport and its history, since the Antiquity.
Built on the remains of a 15th-century church, the Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul church was built at the beginning of the 20th century. In neo-Roman style, it houses the tomb of the famous Cyrano de Bergerac, a French writer who inspired the hero of Edmond Rostand.
Inscribed with the Historic Monuments, the mill of Sannois dates from the middle of the XVIIIth century. Located on Mount Trouillet, it is open on the first Sunday of each month in order to discover ancient techniques of making flour. The miller's house is also accessible.
A 19th century bourgeois villa, the Château de Cernay replaces an old eighteenth-century building. Partly destroyed, it still has today the old stables, as well as the gateway to the commons.
To walk, the city awarded three flowers in the competition of cities and floral villages of France, has several green areas. Do not miss to visit Mont Trouillet, a wooded site of about thirty hectares.
The market is held every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday morning. At the end of the year, the city also offers a Christmas market.
In May, place at the festival of P'tites Oreilles with its concerts organized for the youngest.
On 13 July, Sannois organized a popular ball and a fireworks display.
