The Dupuy-Mestreau museum in Saintes, in Charente-Maritime, takes place in a former private mansion built in the 18th century and which served as the prefecture of Charente-Inférieure until the beginning of the 19th century.
Inside, visitors can discover important regional art collections assembled by Abel Mestreau between the 19th and 20th centuries. On the program of the Dupuy-Mestreau museum, a reconstruction of a peasant interior, paintings, traditional costumes, earthenware or even engravings.
The site deliberately offers an old museography to immerse visitors in another era.
