The castle of La Chetardière is located in the village of Sainte-Gemmes-d'Andigné, south-west of the town of Segré-en-Anjou Bleu to which it is now integrated, in Maine-et-Loire.
It was erected at the end of the 18th century then remodeled and embellished in the 19th century (interior decorations).
The castle is an interesting example of a noble residence in a rural environment, even if its architecture displays a neo-classical style with a main building projecting from three levels (the second floor being located under the attic), framed by two pavilions of two levels from which leave two wings at right angles forming the main courtyard.
Listed in the Inventory, the building has neat and modern interior fittings for its time with reception rooms and numerous secondary rooms.
The exteriors are also beautifully crafted, with an enclosed garden, landscaped composition, and communal areas to the north. A large driveway planted with trees provides access to the estate from the departmental road.
Property is always private. It hosts receptions and is open to the public from time to time, especially during Heritage Days (an exhibition is then presented there).
Failing that, the estate is visible from the outside during a hike linking the village's sites of interest in a wonderfully bucolic setting. Information on +33 2 41 92 20 40 or +33 2 41 92 86 83.
