Things to see and do

The church of Saint-Thégonnec dates in part from the middle of the sixteenth century. It has a Gothic bell tower from this period, but many revisions were made until the 18th century. There are stained glass windows of great beauty, numerous statues, and polychrome altarpieces. After a fire in 1998, it was restored identically. It is one of the elements of the parochial enclosure of the city, with also the triumphal door of the end of the sixteenth century and the Calvary of the early seventeenth century. On the south side, one of the executioners of the scorned Christ bears the features of King Henry IV. All the sculptures benefit from the fineness of the stone of Kersanton found in the surroundings.

In the 17th century, the ossuary of Saint-Thégonnec served as a funerary chapel. With a beautiful symmetry, it has a late 17th century altarpiece dedicated to Saint Joseph, as well as an Entombment of the eighteenth century installed in the crypt. The latter is represented by ten life-size figures in polychrome oak and baroque.

The remains of the castle of Penhoat date from the middle of the thirteenth century. Former seat of the barony of the same name, it still presents the traces of three works, the main enclosure, of the dwellings, and a barnyard.

Walking through Saint-Thégonnec-Loc-Eguiner you can also admire a feudal mound, bread ovens, some remarkable houses, as well as an old washhouse dedicated to the production of linen.

Marked hiking trails make it possible to appreciate all the architectural heritage of the town, as well as the local fauna and flora.
