Built on a Gallo-Roman camp, the castle of Brandon at Saint-Pierre-de-Varennes, was an important element of defense of the Duchy of Burgundy until the end of the 15th century. Today listed in the additional inventory of Historic Monuments, it consists of buildings distributed around an irregular enclosure divided in two. The master dwelling, rectangular, is flanked by square towers and a right-angled wing. To this set are added agricultural buildings, a stable and a gatehouse.
Inhabited private property, Brandon Castle is currently closed to visitors.
