Rhone commune, vast 3000 hectares, Saint-Pierre-de-Chandieu takes place at the edge of the department of Isere, about thirty kilometers from Lyon. Second commune of the area in area, it is located near Saint-Priest, Corbas or Bonnefamille.

Saint-Pierre-de-Chandieu takes its name in the second half of the 10th century when the abbey of Saint-Maïeul was founded. Originally divided into two parishes, the town has enjoyed relative prosperity since the nineteenth century with nearly 1500 inhabitants. Very marked by the First World War which saw the disappearance of many citizens of the city, it then benefits from its proximity to Lyon for a great development. Things to see and do

Built in the middle of the 17th century, the Saint-Thomas chapel replaced the chapel Saint-Clair formerly located in the castle. Surrounded by the communal cemetery, it is the work of François de Laigue then lord of the city.

Not far away, you can also admire the medieval castle of Chandieu. It still unveils today a keep, ramparts and several remains dating from the fourteenth century.

Several hiking trails also allow you to enjoy the local flora and fauna.

Events and festivities

The market is held every Saturday morning in the Place Charles de Gaulle.

The first weekend of February takes place the Days of wine and local products in the sports complex.

The second weekend of March, place at the Carnival Gones and Magnauds with its grand parade of floats and music.

In April, welcome to the Spring Fair and its many festivities.

On Palm Sunday Palm Tree Fair is held in the center of the village.

End of May-beginning of June, place at the party of the donkey at the municipal stadium.

In early June, the town offers a gathering of old vehicles.

At the end of June-beginning of July, Concert pour Tous is offered at Espace DesLyres.

On July 13, the National Day is organized at the stadium with ball and fireworks.

The first Saturday of September, "Planet Associations" is proposed to the pluralist room (forum associations).

In early December, the population activates for the Telethon.

On December 8th, the festival of lights is offered in the square with show and distribution of delicacies for children, mulled wine and hot brioche of traders for adults.
