Small village of the Loire, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Saint-Pierre-de-Boeuf takes place about fifty kilometers from Saint-Étienne. It is located at the foot of the Regional Natural Park of Pilat, on the banks of the Rhône, near Chavanay, Malleval and Serrières.
The one that was originally called Ager Bocius takes its name from Celtic, Boscum, which testifies to its proximity to a forest. Over time, the town of Saint-Pierre-de-Boeuf has developed its economy around river trade, but also the textile industry due to its proximity to Lyon, the former capital of silk. This activity will last until the beginning of the 2010s before completely disappearing from the territory of the municipality.
