Third tomb of Christianity.
The basilica dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene, whose construction was decided by the second Charles of Anjou, is the largest Gothic building in Provence. It contains the Gallo-Roman crypt (fourth century) the sarcophagus and the reliquary containing the relics of Mary Magdalene, the sarcophagi of Saint Maximin, Saint Marcelle, Sainte Suzanne and Saint Sidonius. We also discover its wonderful organ from the 18th century, the work of Brother Jean-Esprit Isnard. This exceptional instrument was saved the Revolution by Lucien Bonaparte who was playing "La Marseillaise".
The cloister of the former Royal Convent of Dominican Friars (XIII-XVII century) is open for tours.
