Small town of Vendée part of the agglomeration of Sables-d'Olonne, Saint-Mathurin takes place at about thirty kilometers from La Roche-sur-Yon, not far from Vairé and Olonne-sur-Mer.
As a full-fledged municipality, Saint-Mathurin was born only in the second half of the 19th century. Formerly, it was indeed attached to its neighbor, La Chapelle-Achard, and this, since the early seventeenth century. Recent archaeological excavations, however, have shown that the territory was populated since at least the Neolithic.
Green and authentic, the Vendée is still appreciated today for its unique setting and its country aspect in the countryside. Hiking, farms and other natural and gastronomic discoveries are at the rendezvous of this city that does not lack charm.
