The Château d'Ablois is located in the town of Saint-Martin-d'Ablois, in the department of Marne, 10 km south-west of Epernay.
Located to the south-west of the village, the current castle was built in the 18th century on the foundations of an area already mentioned at the beginning of the 17th century.
He was raised around 1762 for Charles Jacques Louis de Meulan d'Ablois, Receiver General of Finance for the generality of Paris. After his death, the classical-style castle with main building and wings at right angles had different owners, including Count Antoine Roy, Minister of Finance under the Restoration. It is to him that we owe arrangements so that the built elements are better integrated into the landscaped park embellished with waterfalls and bodies of water, crossed by beautiful avenues and wide alleys.
In 1950, the estate was for a time owned by the Jesuits who set up a seminary and raised the main building and fitted out curved galleries linking the wings.
Finally, in 2009, the estate was acquired by the champagne house Patrick Breul. Listed in the Inventory with its 36-hectare park, its outbuildings (orangery, icehouse) and its ponds, the château is the headquarters of the wine estate.
The public is welcomed for visits with tasting. The estate also houses reception rooms and a gîte. In addition, access to the ponds is authorized for fishermen.
