Small town of Ille-et-Vilaine, Saint-Malo-de-Phily takes place about thirty kilometers from Rennes, not far from Saint-Senoux, Guignen and Bain-de-Bretagne. Installed on a rocky peak, it overlooks the Vilaine valley.
Of ancient origin, the town reveals traces of human activity from the Lower Palaeolithic, 600,000 years ago. It developed later, with in particular the creation of an altar housing the relics of Saint Malo deposited by the Alethians.
Today, Saint-Malo-de-Phily, which originates from a hamlet, Fili, which means happy or beloved, is very popular with tourists for its authentic charm, but also for its heritage.
