Listed as a Historic Monument, the Château de Tardes takes place in the heart of the old town of Saint-Macaire, in Gironde. Originally a 13th century medieval stronghold, it was later transformed into a Renaissance mansion. It is particularly possible to admire beautiful mullioned windows, as well as a hexagonal troubadour-style tower with a 19th century spiral staircase.
Visitors passing through the old center can also discover the fortifications with the primitive enclosure, that of the two suburbs, as well as the remains of the original fortified castle of the Château de Tardes.
