Saint-Julien-sur-Suran is a commune in the Jura region Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, 35 km south of Lons-le-Saunier and 22 km northwest of Oyonnax, Ain.
The village has about 500 inhabitants and has developed in the heart of Little Mountain, a rural and hilly area (300 to 600 meters) making transition between the office Bresse, west, and the High -Jura east.
Crossed by several rivers, including the Suran (tributary of the Ain), the village was equipped with a fortress in the thirteenth century, built by the Duke of Burgundy, and was renamed the Warrior Saint-Julien-up Consulate (late eighteenth). It only remains some ruins of these fortifications.

Near the ruins of the medieval fortress, was built in the eighteenth century a new castle to residential. Montesquieu, the Enlightenment philosopher, lived there.

Each second half of July, the festival of Mouth to Ear offers gourmet and musical evenings in various villages in the territory of Little Mountain, which Saint-Julien.
Gastronomic tastings and friendly precede classical or contemporary music. Exhibitions and film screenings are also planned.
