Listed as a Historic Monument since 2007, the Château de La Roque takes place in the town of Saint-Germain-de-la-Rivière, in the heart of the Gironde. Erected in the second half of the 18th century on the remains of a 14th century residence, itself built on a medieval fortress.
Always dedicated to the cultivation of the vine, the Château de La Roque was transformed once again during the course of the 19th century, with in particular the construction of a water tower, the redevelopment of the park, the construction new wineries. The castle itself underwent changes at the end of the 19th century under the influence of the architect Alphonse Blaquière. Since then, it has been revealed in the form of L-shaped buildings with colonnaded galleries and pavilions that enclose a terrace.
