Saint-Firmin-sur-Loire

Built at the end of the nineteenth century, in 1896, the Briare Canal Bridge has its southern end ending at Saint-Firmin-sur-Loire. Designed by the company Eiffage and fitted with batteries designed by Gustave Eiffel himself, the building is entirely metallic and evokes the style of the bridge Alexandre III of Paris. It allows the side channel to the Loire to cross the river to quietly join the Briare Canal, the Loing Canal, and finally the Seine. Stretching over 662 meters long, it has long been the longest canal bridge in Europe.

While strolling in the village, you will also be able to admire the church Saint-Firmin of XII^e, XVI^e and XIX^e centuries or the home of the Passeur of XIX^e.

Let yourself be seduced by the wild banks of the Loire for some hiking or biking, and browse the famous cycling track, the Loire à Vélo.
