Town Cher, in region Center-Val de Loire, Saint-Doulchard takes place on the outskirts of Bourges, in the heart of Berry. It is located on the edge of the Sologne, near Marmagne, Vasselay and Vignoux-sous-les-Aix.

The fourth city of the department was born in antiquity with a development related to the fertility of agricultural land and its wine business. It takes its name in the Middle Ages under the inspiration of Dulcardus monk hermit who eventually sanctified. Today Saint-Doulchard takes its economic dynamism of the Michelin plant located on the territory since 1950.

Passing visitors continue to appreciate the authentic charm of the city of the Center Loire Valley, as well as its proximity to some of the most beautiful sights in the region.

Things to see and do

Built in the eleventh century, the Church of Saint-Doulchard is a Romanesque building that was largely restored in the twentieth century. Inside you can admire a beautiful reliquary of Louis XV which hosts the relics of the saints Fruitful, Reparat and Illuminator.

The completely renovated castle Varye was built in the second half of the nineteenth century. Surrounded by a park of four hectares now open to the public, the site is a cultural center offering various activities around the painting, literature and music.

Founded in the early sixteenth century by the daughter of Louis XI Joan of France, the Monastery of the Annunciation continues to host individual and groups by reservation.

Events and festivities

The weekly market is held every Tuesday morning. A Christmas market is also proposed in December to the Monastery of the Annunciation.

A wine fair held in early March.

In June, up to the feast of fishing and entertainment.
