The Albarède garden is located in the commune of Saint-Cybranet, in the Dordogne department, a few kilometers southwest of Domme.
It was created in 1990 by the Lapouge couple (he being a landscaper, she a journalist specializing in gardens). They brought new life to a two-hectare area that was then fallow, with poor soil made of stones and limestone in a valley. Despite the seasonal contrasts (harsh winters but hot and dry summers), they brought together a thousand species and varieties of plants adapting to these delicate conditions, without ever using fertilizers or pesticides or adding external soil..
The complex is dotted with Périgord stones and includes an old vegetable garden, a scent garden, an apple orchard, boxwood terraces but also a path lined with shrubs with views over the valley du Céou.
This real tour de force now allows you to "travel" within a space labeled "Remarkable Garden" as green as it is unique... A welcome break during a stay in this region otherwise so rich in heritage sites...
